In celebration of World Oceans Day, the joint collaboration with PangeaSeed ‘and I are excited to unveil ‘Guardians of the Seven Seas’ was unveiled at the 2025 United Nations Oceans Conference (UNOC) in Nice, France.

From the pioneering spirit of Jacques Cousteau and the deep wisdom of Dr. Sylvia Earle and Sir David Attenborough to the fearless advocacy of Zandile Ndhlovu and Melissa Cristina Márquez, and the trailblazing spirits of Asha de Vos and Nainoa Thompson, each figure represents one of the seven seas and a vital link in the chain of ocean conservation.

Artist Statement:
“‘Guardians of the Seven Seas’ is my personal tribute to the contemporary heroes who have dedicated their lives to defending our oceans. They are true pioneers, helping us navigate the mysteries of the deep while confronting the formidable challenges of pollution and climate change. Their commitment to preserving Earth’s bodies of water and their vibrant ecosystems are nothing short of heroic. Having been born on an island and holding a lifelong love for the ocean, I felt compelled to capture their spirit and pay homage to their incredible legacy.

Growing up, I collected antique ephemera, so the chance to unite their portraits with elements from old nautical maps and surveys was irresistible. Each Guardian stands as an island, yet they all emerge from the universal waters that connect us. With this vision in mind, PangeaSeed and I chose to create a central hero poster showcasing them all, alongside individual cards, celebrating their distinct and collective contributions.”
