Awesome Con 2014

2014-04-19 09.21.40-1Awesome Con is one of my favorite cons of all time. Not just because I get to be profounding lazy as it happens literally 10 mins from my house, but I get the rare opportunity to interface with my fellow DC-Metro area people.

This year marked its second show and boy did they step it up. The main show floor was massive compared to last year, the guest were awesome, and people actually knew it was happening due to an awesome marketing campaign (complete with ads on the DC metro!).

As always, thank you so much to those who showed up, fans and friends alike. Can’t wait for next year!

The highlights:

A couple  made trading cards of their favorites in artist alley to have signed. Not only did they make some for me but they made TWO. Clearly I need to invest in headshots.

Got some super small and fun things from Dave Perillo’s table. He and Scott Derby, some of my most favorite artist alley regulars were kind enough to come out and have dinner with me and my mom. Good times.

I am a huge fan of the show Archer, and not 3 tables down from me was the funny and talented Same Ellis, character designer for the show. Needless to say I immediately booked my sketch (as he does a limited amount per day ). When I requested an Archer in a turtle neck he asked “Black or slightly darker black?”

The coup de gras of the show was having Danai Guirara sign my licensed AMC Walking Dead print of Michonne. My husband was nice enough to stand in line and not only brought it back signed but with kind words from the lovely actress.
